Send Tweets in Real-time while Watching TV a New Enhancement from FiOS
Free upgrades have been provided to FiOS TV Facebook and Twitter widgets, two interactive social TV application added recently. The upgrades will allow FiOS TV users to send their own Tweets in real time. Update Facebook profiles via onscreen keyboard.
The company is elevating their efforts on adding new functionalities to enhance customer experience of social networking on FiOS television. These new features allow users additional way of connecting with each through the use of their own TV sets.
The new features added by Verizon were Facebook, Twitter, ESPN and Online video services. This will be provided by a new store called The Widget Bazaar. This will allow subscribers to acquire widgets and Apps. They also plan to open the “Widget Bazaar to third-party developers under revenue sharing agreement.
The competition is very tough, almost everybody is offering Triply Play (TV, Internet and Phone Service). But Verizon has a different way of playing the field, they plan to create more widgets and apps allowing consumers to choose how they want to watch TV.
Verizon has long been in the game and it could be attributed to the continuous growth of FiOS subscribers. Over the last 6 months they exhibit an increase of the number of FiOS subscribers to over a million. If this development will continue to progress and wireless system will continue to improve providing 4G capability, they will be able to compete with the giants of the telco industry, Sprint and AT&T.
